The active volcano, Rincón de La Vieja, is located north of Liberia, the main city of the province Guanacaste. Here you have the unique opportunity to hike through untouched nature to the summit of the volcano. Those of you who undertake this exciting but still exhausting adventure will be rewarded with quite fantastic impressions of the crater, the unique view over a hardly accessible lagoon and the dry lowlands of Guanacaste. As you walk along the bottom of the volcano, you will see the bubbling mud holes, hot sulphur springs and small geysers.
